Expertises

These expertises are realized on any types of materials:

Ferrous or non-ferrous metals with possibility of chemical etching to determine the metallographic structure, grain size, alloy quality or defect…

Polymers, ceramics (search of porosities, voids…)

• Printed Circuit Boards (PCB) according to the IPC-A-600 standard: search of PCB manufacturing defects (laminate integrity, via mis- registration, plating or surface finish defects…

• Printed Circuit Board Assemblies (PCBA) according to the IPC-A-610 standard: search of electronic assembly manufacturing problems (solder joint mixing or homogeneity, thermo-mechanical stresses… )

Three types of metallographic expertises can be performed:

Failure analysis:

Search of defects and failures: cracks, discontinuities, leakages…

in order to determine their cause and origin

Product qualifications:

Qualification of a new product according to a norm or a specification

DPA (Destructive Physical Analysis):

For production monitoring (by reference, batch, date code or series)

The metallographic expertise may require:

-Non-destructive testing by observations in X-rays or acoustic tomography.

-Destructive testing by cross-section with observations under a light microscope and / or SEM.

All our optical microscopes (magnification max X1000) are equipped with software prints which can realize various types of dimensional measurements.
